As a self-proclaimed lover of both the past’s aesthetics and the promise of modern tech, I always relish reviewing products that seamlessly amalgamate old-world charm with cutting-edge technology. The WOLFBOX G840S 12″ 4K Mirror Dash Cam Backup Camera is no exception.

This dual-camera product brings together 2160p ultra-high-definition front camera footage, 1080p rear camera footage, dual-lens display capabilities, and GPS tracking, among many other features. With this myriad of elements, it is prudent to dissect this product piece by piece.

Design and Specs

At first blush, the WOLFBOX G840S impresses with its considerable 12″ screen, providing a substantial viewing area for smooth navigation. The slight curvature achieves screen ergonomics, conducive to the human eye. This dashcam is celebrated for its compatibility with both cars and trucks, making it a versatile addition to any vehicle.

But the true charm lies in the detailed specs. The front camera’s resolution upgrade to stunning 4K UHD was eye-catching. Combine this with the full HD rearview camera, and it’s clear that the visual quality is a major selling point. The dashcam implements WDR&HDR tech for lighting balance, making night driving as effortless as it is in daytime.

Performance

The system boasts some sparkling features such as GPS tracking and 24-hour precise parking monitoring. It also has a handy smart screen split function and a mirror flip for rear image view. Its ability to record in high quality, even in challenging lighting situations, makes driving at night effortless.

Pros and Cons

Nevertheless, every product has its pros and cons. While the myriad of features packs quite a punch, the lack of auto brightness was a slight drawback. Other users echoed this sentiment, calling into question the product’s adaptability in various lighting conditions.

The GPS tracking facility ran into occasional hiccups, showcasing inaccurate speeds at times. This daunting little inaccuracy could cause confusion and potential inconveniences for any driver.

That said, a noted ethos of excellence radiated from customer service, eager to aid and resolve all queries, which is a clear positive.

Verdict

Having considered, meticulously, the array of features and minor drawbacks, it’s clear that the WOLFBOX G840S 12″ 4K Mirror Dash Cam Backup Camera is more than just a useful tool – it’s a blend of the vintage and new-age tech, making for an epic ride for any automobile.

This is a must-have for retro car enthusiasts who understand the value added by modern tech. Remember, it’s not just a dashcam; it’s an experience – a ride through the lanes of the past, with the wind of the future at your back.

My most recent experiment in the Retro Tech Drive lab was with the 70mai Smart Dash Cam 1S. Despite its compact design, this dash cam is bursting with features, offering incredible value without compromising on the vintage aesthetics we love.

Specifications

Armed with a Sony IMX307 image processor and F/2.2 aperture, the 70mai smart dash cam captures 1080P full HD resolution, recording every detail of your drives with precision. Even in low light, this dashcam does an excellent job of brightening up scenes. Adding to the sense of security it instills is the built-in G-sensor, a feature that auto-records emergency situations, saving the captured videos safely so that they can’t be overwritten.

The cornerstone of its user-friendly interface is the voice control feature. This allows for hands-free operation that’s perfect for the safe and conscious retro car enthusiast. Its ability to support a high-endurance Class 10 microSD memory card, from 16GB up to 64GB (not included), makes it perfect for long rides.

The built-in WiFi and app control add a twinge of modernity to this retro-tech device. Not only do these features allow for easy viewing and downloading of footage, but they also help to keep the device updated through OTA updates.

User Experience

The 70mai Smart Dash Cam 1S receives predominantly positive reviews, with users praising its cost-effectiveness and overall functionality. Installation was simple, with its peel and stick feature adding a level of convenience. However, some users did report issues with using the static plastic to mount it to the windshield and resorted to two-way tape as an alternative.

Some users did report that incident sensitivity, a feature that triggers additional footage capture during sudden stops or collisions, might be trigger-happy even at lower settings. The sound alert announcing the start of recording every time the vehicle turns on might also be a minor annoyance if you prefer a completely silent driving experience.

Regarding connectivity, it’s been noted that while the built-in WiFi and app control features are excellent, accessing the camera’s footage requires either removing the memory card to review footage on a computer or being present in the car. The manual connection process with the app, which functions like a hotspot, may be a bit cumbersome.

However, common consensus boils down to one main factor: value for money. The 70mai Smart Dash Cam 1S provides excellent image resolution, compact design, and advanced features for a relatively lower price makes it a great bargain. Nevertheless, this device seems to be an excellent piece of technology that respects an older aesthetic while offering advanced features. As a retro futurist, it is this balance that really grabs my attention.

Final Verdict

All factors considered, the 70mai Smart Dash Cam 1S earns a solid 4/5 stars. With a few small tweaks, it could easily soar to an even higher rating. For those wishing to retrofit their retro car with a bit of modern innovation, this might be the dashcam to consider.

Introduction

Here at Retro Tech Drives, retro-beauty meets modern innovation in our exploration of the latest vehicle technology designed for the revered elders of the road. Today, we’re taking a spin with the DoHonest Wireless Backup Camera Trucks. Specifically, the Easy Setup Stable Signal HD 1080P Car RV Bluetooth Rear View Camera 5 Inch Split Screen Monitor for Pickup Camper SUV, fondly known as the V25. As ever, we have put it through its paces, assessing it from every angle.

Super Stable Signal

Navigating intricate road networks or satellite-hugging back lanes, we find the uninterrupted high-speed transmission without interference refreshingly dependable, operating steadily within a 33ft range. Plus, who doesn’t love when compatibility concerns are put to rest? The V25 promises a good match with most vehicle types, whether a compact car, a brawny pickup truck, or a charming camper; it’s designed to fit right in.

Easy Installation

The biggest revelations often come in small packages. For the V25, it’s the built-in transmitter within the wireless backup camera that eliminates those fiddly long video cables. Believe it or not, with less than 30 minutes you’re on the road with your new wireless backup camera system, assembled and ready for adventure.

Dual Camera Capability and Super Night Vision

The dual-camera capability is a feature we’ve thoroughly appreciated as it allows up to two HD 1080P wireless backup cameras to be linked to the monitor. Simply add a second license plate camera, and you’ve got your RV covered.

The thoughtfully designed sealed housing matched with an IP69 waterproof rating stand firm in adverse weather conditions. Plus, the 7 LED night vision lights cast a comforting hue even in the darkest nights, ensuring a wide-angle view rich in color and detail.

Customization and Warranty

We delight in the level of customization possible with this device; from adjusting the parking line’s width and height to altering brightness, contrast, saturation, and language settings, it’s truly flexible. Captivatingly, the V25 supports both mirror image and normal-facing image modes too.

Also impressive is the 3-year warranty, complemented by a dedicated lifetime technical support and a 30-day money-back guarantee. That’s what we call some true customer care commitment.

The Verdict

Our drive with the DoHonest Wireless Backup Camera Truck has been a journey worthwhile. Besides minor drawbacks such as the magnetic mount’s lack of firm grip and activation of IR lights when not needed, the high-quality picture, simple installation, and considerate customer service convincingly balance the scale for the positive.

Whether for a Chevrolet Silverado HD3500, a Keystone Montana fifth-wheel, a Ford Excursion SUV, or a Subaru Outback, the V25 transcends the lifelines of vehicles, encompassing the retro and the modern in a harmonious blend. As Techno Tom, the lover of classic aesthetics and modern marvels, the DoHonest Wireless Backup Camera earns an impressive 4.4/5 rating, firmly standing as a remarkable play between the old and the new.

As a committed retro car enthusiast, we’re always on the lookout for high-quality, up-to-the-minute technology that can integrate seamlessly with our cherished models. Recently, we’ve had the chance to really put the DoHonest RV Backup Camera to the test.

This marvel of modern tech is designed for a simple installation on any Furrion Pre-Wired system, seemingly promising “Plug & Play” functionality aligned with a retro aesthetic. Out of the box, the system looks impressive and solid—just the kind of tech modernity we need for our retro rides. But does it truly stand up to our rigorous testing? Let’s find out.

Features and Installation

The key feature of the DoHonest RV Backup Camera is its ability to transmit up to 320ft in open areas and 56ft on vehicles, reducing blind spots significantly. We found the installation to be relatively simple, thanks to the bracket adapter and pigtail wire plug, even completing the setup in less than 10 minutes. Kudos to the DIY guide lines; it’s an excellent addition for a safer and easier driving and parking experience.

Performance and Image Quality

During our test drives, the camera’s performance seemed consistent, providing a clear and stable visual in several environments and lighting conditions. The impressive IP69 waterproof rating allowed us to test it under adverse weather conditions without any visibility compromise. As for nighttime driving, nine infrared lights effectively delivered a clear view, allowing for secure and stress-free reverses even in pitch-dark scenarios.

A Useful Companion for Safety and Convenience

We loved the “DVR dash monitor” for your rearview functionality. It records your surroundings, functioning almost like a third eye in the back. The ability to add up to 4 wireless hitch trailer cameras or a license plate camera for front/side/rear views is a huge plus. The camera quality met our expectations with true HD 1080P images and videos.

Customer Service

DoHonest certainly seems to take their customer service seriously. We noticed they offer lifetime technical support, a 3-year replacement warranty, and even a 30-day money-back guarantee. Our experiences with their customer service were up to the mark, receiving timely responses and attention to our queries.

The Good and The Not So Good

As with any product, the DoHonest RV Backup Camera comes with its highs and lows. On the plus side, the image quality truly stands out with minimal glare in direct sunlight. The camera’s night vision feature is strong, and the pairing process was quite simple. Despite a few reports of signal issues, we experienced zero connection loss in our testing scenarios. We also appreciated the bonus spare parts provided for any potential wiring mishaps.

On the downside, the installation manual wasn’t very elaborate, causing slight confusion during installation. Another minor issue was the limited field of view and a slight lag in the transmission, which proved a bit problematic at highway speeds. While the power adapter was a bit troublesome for us, we managed to circumvent this by wiring it directly.

Final Thoughts

All-in-all, we found the DoHonest RV Backup Camera to be a considerable asset for any retro car driver seeking an infusion of modern tech. There’s much to love about it, from the quick installation process to the exceptional performance and customer support. It surely demands some minor tweaks, but considering its amazing features and that 4,6/5 rating on Amazon, we firmly believe it’s a real tech gem for our retro rides.

Eonon A0125 Backup Camera: The Best HD Reversing Camera for Retro Driving Experience https://www.retrotechdrives.com/2023/09/28/eonon-a0125-backup-camera-the-best-hd-reversing-camera-for-retro-driving-experience/ https://www.retrotechdrives.com/2023/09/28/eonon-a0125-backup-camera-the-best-hd-reversing-camera-for-retro-driving-experience/#respond Thu, 28 Sep 2023 14:57:30 +0000 https://www.retrotechdrives.com/?p=551 Eonon A0125 Backup Camera: Bringing Modern Tech to Retro Driving

Integrating modern technology into retrocars has never been easier with the Eonon A0125 Backup Camera. This special accessory, which comes as a gift with the 2022 Eonon X20 Car Stereo, is designed to streamline your journey, making it safe and enjoyable.

Compatible with all Eonon Android Head Units including X20, Q03PRO, Q80PRO, Q53PRO, Q65PRO, Q63PRO, Q51PRO, Q50PRO, Q67PRO, Q98PRO, R03, R53, R80, R63 and more, the versatility of this product gives it a unique edge.

What makes the A0125 standout is its superior high-definition 720P reversing camera. Never miss a moment with its resolution of 1280×720, providing sharper, true-to-life images even in lower light conditions. Specially engineered for night vision, this backup camera significantly reduces possible reversing accidents.

Features such as the 140°wide viewing adjustable angle catapult this backup camera into a different league of its peers. Unique in its adjustable functionality, it offers drivers the stability and control needed to reverse in tight and congested spaces.

An additional merit is the robust waterproof and dustproof design, complying with international standards, that ensures maximum durability and longevity of the product. So you can confidently tackle rainy or dusty trips without worry of compromising the camera’s performance.

However, our testing revealed that while the easy installation feature is a definite plus, the cable provided with the product may be too short for larger vehicle models, like a crew cab 6 ft bed Silverado. One may need to add an extension for a perfect fit and full functionality.

Now, let’s talk about occasional flickering. Infrequent as it may be, and mostly observed only once a week, this can cause momentary distractions and should be taken into consideration.

The mount of the Eonon A0125 Backup Camera is indeed versatile; however, our testers found the quality of the screws slightly lacking in providing a secure hold. A more high-grade fastening option might enhance the overall stability of the camera.

A major frustration amongst users was the lack of clear instructions for both installation and use, particularly when dealing with complications such as interference from the alternator. Improved clarity in product guides might eliminate these issues.

Despite these shortcomings, the Eonon A0125 Backup Camera still holds its ground in the market due to its excellent video quality and unbeatable cost-effectiveness. It effortlessly fulfills the basic necessities of a backup camera, making it a worthy addition to your retrocars.

At the end of the day, your satisfaction as a user counts. With a customer service committed to helping you through any problems and the clarity provided by the Eonon brand, this is a modern tech investment worth considering for your retro driving experience.

Retro Tech Drives: Rexing M2 Smart BSD ADAS Dual Mirror Dash Cam Review

In our continued exploration of blending vintage aesthetics with modern technology, the team at Retro Tech Drives delved into the underpinnings of the Rexing M2 Smart BSD ADAS Dual Mirror Dash Cam. This particular model offers a plethora of features, including dual 1080p video recording, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), blind-spot detection (BSD), and GPS to enhance and modernize your retro drives.

The 12″ IPS touchscreen serves not only as a platform to access the camera’s functionalities but also doubles as a rear mirror. It provides a wider field of view, which is a considerable upgrade, especially for retro vehicles with notorious blind spots. Nonetheless, be prepared to navigate occasional daylight glare, especially if you’re driving in high-light environments like the desert. The glare could potentially impede the view, but in such cases, another rear-view mirror can assist.

The video quality holds up decently, with a 2K front and 1080p rear camera making license plates highly visible up to a distance. On a well-lit street or during daytime driving, the camera performs superb. Nighttime driving, however, does present some visibility challenges, with the least of light leading to glares, obscuring the live view considerably.

One key selling point of the Rexing M2 is its Advanced Driver Assist System which serves a lane change assistant. Contrarily, we found this feature to be less than ideal, with occasional false registries during our tests. While this adds an extra sense of security, constant resetting of this feature can be cumbersome and distracts from the primary function of the dash cam.

The camera also packs a G-sensor, locking in video at the detection of any impact during driving. This could be a double-edged sword though, as even slight bumps lead to locked files, and after a certain amount, new locks can’t be placed. This could lead to loss of critical footage, something to take a note of. Conversely, on a positive light, the responsive touchscreen interface is very user-friendly and gets you through setting up and operating the camera quite seamlessly.

We also invested some time understanding the camera’s loop recording and parking monitor features. Once the memory card hits storage limits, this dash camera automatically overwrites the oldest footage, ensuring the capture of recent events. This comes handy for civil disputes or evidence requisition in unfortunate cases of accidents. But remember, clarity at night is not the camera’s forte.

The installation process is fairly straightforward, and mounting the camera in a way that it blends with the retro aesthetics was a breeze. Kudos to the brand for also offering 18 months of warranty, showing they do stand by their product, for most part. However, some users reported hit-or-miss customer service, so that’s something to keep in mind.

All in all, the Rexing M2 delivers a mixed bag of good and bad. It shines with its dual recording, blind spot detection, and straightforward installation. But expect to partake in the dance of occasional daylight glare, letdowns from the smart features, and possible customer service lapses.

Nevertheless, the allure of integrating future tech with past aesthetics can be worth these growing pains. Closing with a 3.8/5 rating, the Rexing M2 may not be the go-to solution for all, but certainly an option worth exploring for the retro-tech enthusiast in you.

REDTIGER Rear View Mirror Camera Review: Classic Meets Cutting-Edge

As a team of seasoned car tech enthusiasts here at Retro Tech Drives, we recently got our hands on the REDTIGER Rear View Mirror Camera for Cars and we have quite a lot to share. As we always do, we combined the elegance of classic style with the utility of modern technology in our testing, and we were pleasantly surprised with the result.

Right off the bat, we were impressed by the camera’s exclusive feature offering both front 4K and rear 2.5K resolution. Coupled with a built-in HI-SILICON chip, the device delivered crisp images and videos from both front and rear dash cams. Also, its six-layer glass lens provided notably enhanced night vision in darker environments.

A standout feature was the camera’s WDR+HDR super night vision. The WDR + HDR technology excellently enhanced night time visuals, with the high-sensitivity sensor capturing video with sharp and vivid color even in less light. This resulted in a safer and more secure driving experience and significantly reduced the blinding glare from car headlights.

The REDTIGER camera also boasted an 11″ UHD Touch Screen that caught our eye. With upgraded technology, this 11-inch screen offered a 440×1920 resolution, with an intelligent screen split function that allows simultaneous observation of the vehicle’s front and rear dynamics in real time — a feature we found very useful during hands-on testing.

We were particularly satisfied with the range of additional features, including a 24H parking monitor, G-sensor, guidelines, and loop recording. The parking monitor worked impressively, acting as a surveillance camera system when the vehicle was off for up to 48 hours.

However, in our experience, the camera was not without flaws. Some of the team members found the display screen to be a bit too overstimulating, causing mild distractions at times. Also, we noticed that the device failed to live up to the night vision capability as marketed, especially in areas with minimal lighting. On the upside, we believe future iterations of the product could show improvements in this area.

Past minor discrepancies, one of the highlights of our experience with this product was the customer service quality. We got a feel of the manufacturer’s promise of prioritizing consumer needs with its 1-year warranty offer and a highly responsive customer service team.

As for mounting, we decided to mount the rear camera inside at the top of the rear windshield, which gave us a much broader and clearer view compared to the traditional rearview mirror. The quality of sound and resolution was impressive, and the touchscreen made navigating the controls pretty convenient.

In terms of analytical feedback, while the current panoramic lens captures license plates clearly during the day, it was a struggle to do so from afar. But this is a minor setback considering the feature is most needed during driving emergencies, which the camera easily handles with its one-touch emergency record and lock function.

One of the slight downsides we noted was a bit of glare at night, but this in no way detracts from the array of quality features the camera boasts, like the quick animations and slide/motion gesture controls on the touchscreen.

In conclusion, we at Retro Tech Drives found the REDTIGER Rear View Mirror Camera for Cars to be a product that bridges the gap between modern convenience and classic aesthetics. Despite a few minor shortcomings, its high-resolution camera, advanced features, and the manufacturer’s commitment to consumer satisfaction make it a decent investment for any car tech enthusiast.

New Champion on the Road – SEALIGHT H10/9145/9140 LED Fog Light Bulbs

In the realm of automobile lighting, the SEALIGHT H10/9145/9140 LED Fog Light Bulbs have established themselves as a game-changer. These bulbs emit a 6000K Xenon White light with an impressive 360-degree illumination, a testament to the 27 LED chips per bulb. The beauty of these fog light bulbs lies not just in their brightness, but also in the design that projects focused beams, ensuring their strength without compromising oncoming traffic’s view.

The bulbs were thoroughly tested in various driving conditions, from foggy weather to pitch-black roadsides. Our testers particularly praised the light’s ability to efficiently brighten the path ahead, allowing for better visibility when wearing glasses. Additionally, the light perfectly penetrates fog, enhancing user safety during challenging weather conditions.

The bulbs matched with a large percentage of automobiles, including favorites like the F150 and the 2006 Toyota Solara. Compatibility wasn’t the only impressive feature; our testing team also noted the packaging promising an easy installation process, a claim we found to be true. The installation was swift, completing it within ten minutes without needing any professional tools.

Our assessment of the durability was favorable as well, as the test bulbs did not experience any burnouts during the review period. The estimated lifespan is over 3,000 hours, a validation of its durable construction. Such longevity eliminates frequent buld replacements, indicating a worthwhile investment for motorists.

That said, no product is without a few gripes, and the SEALIGHT H10/9145/9140 LED Fog Light Bulbs were not an exception. Some testers reported that the light distribution seemed unfocused, making it less effective over long distances. Another noted concern was the potential radio interference on FM when the bulbs were in use, which might deter some tech-savvy car owners.

Overall, the SEALIGHT H10/9145/9140 LED Fog Light Bulbs are a promising addition to the automotive lighting market. They shine both in performance and aesthetics, proving reliable in their primary function without compromising the car’s original style. These bulbs are an exciting evolution in vehicular lighting that we believe motorists will find beneficial.

Pros:

  • Impressively bright with 360-degree illumination
  • Compatible with a wide range of vehicle models
  • Quick and easy installation
  • Estimated lifespan over 3,000 hours

Cons:
